IAE Delivers 1000th V2500 SelectOne™ Engine

Executing a strategy of continuous improvement

DUBAI AIR SHOW (November 12, 2011) – International Aero Engines V2500 SelectOne™ engine has recently reached a major milestone with its 1000th delivery.

“SelectOne was a logical evolution of our V2500 engine, and its popularity within the customer community became obvious as it took only about three years to reach this very important threshold,” said IAE President Ian Aitken. “Our strategy of continuing to further develop, implement and improve the capabilities of our engines has been very popular within the customer community.”

Engine V16000 was recently shipped from the Rolls-Royce Dahlewitz facility to Indigo.

“The V2500 SelectOne is a very big success for us – it improved fuel burn by a full one percent,” commented IAE Executive Vice President Jim Guiliano. “It also improved time-on-wing by up to 20 percent and achieved or surpassed CAEP6 NOx standards.”

IAE has moved forward with its popular Select series by introducing the SelectTwo™ earlier this year. This version is projected to provide about 0.6% fuel burn savings compared to the V2500 SelectOne engine for a 500 nautical mile A320 mission. It is comprised of a software upgrade for the Electronic Engine Control (EEC), as well as a new data entry plug (DEP).

Also now on the drawing board is SelectThree™, which will focus on reducing maintenance costs and further developing technology that can be retrofit across the entire fleet, improving operating efficiency for all V2500 users.

IAE is a multinational aero engine consortium whose shareholders comprise of Pratt & Whitney (NYSE: UTX), Rolls-Royce (RR.L), Japanese Aero Engines Corporation and MTU Aero Engines. More than 4,800 V2500 engines have been delivered so far, with nearly 2,000 more engines on order and nearly 200 customers around the world.
